Some shots i made on friday, playing around with candles and various other objects to go with it. While taking those pictures and arranging the objects, phrases kept popping up in my head, which is why some of the results actually have titles…must be a first.

Traces

Due to server issues, this blog was unavailable since sunday afternoon. It annoyed me, and got me thinking about the whole cleanup thing, getting rid of old posts (which isn’t supported by blogsome, so i’d have to delete them manually), creating a more picture friendly environment etc.. I searched around a little, preparing for the worst (since it wouldn’t have been the first time that something hosted on blogsome vanishes for good), and tentatively created another blog, one that was designed to be a photoblog. It presents images nicely, the layout is nice and clean, also presents data such as camera model, exposure time, aperture and so on. The only thing that i dislike is the fact that it was designed to post one picture a day, not more. I’ll play around with it some more, to see if I can find a solution to that. The thought to post my favourite pictures there, and the ‘rest’, that i’d like to show anyways, over here, occured to me as well. However, that’d be somewhat inconvenient. I’ll look into it.

A couple of not so perfect shots from last night, water kept splashing onto the glass, and editing that out is so… tedious.

Another cold night, and again i chose to stay inside, and as far as themes go, falling drops of water are a classic. Now, the light sources here are completely insufficient for this kind of fun, don’t even start about light barriers and all that cool stuff. It took me quite some time to get the hang of it, and even though the pictures turned out quite grainy, here’s my contribution to the classic theme (couple of more are to follow soonish):

There actually was snow. Real snow. In the city. I’m amazed. It snowed like crazy yesterday morning and afternoon, but as soon as the snow hit the ground, it turned into nasty sludgy stuff. Also, it was really cold, so i just stayed outside as long as necessary, took some pictures from the balcony and spent the afternoon and evening with still lifes, nice and cozy and warm, indoors. Anyhow, when I opened my eyes (way too early) this morning, i saw more snow. On the ground. And sun in the sky. I had no choice… fell out of bed, into my clothes, camera over the shoulder and out I go. Now, you see, it turned out to be really cold this time, I had to take breaks after each exposure to warm up my hands again. Experiencing the concept of actual cold feet lay so far back in the past that i must have forgotten about how unpleasant it was. But in any case, the sound of snow crunching under my boots and sunrays glistening on the white surface were well worth it.

Ah, the end of the week has arrived. Snow has been announced for tomorrow, and I’ll be out and about freezing off my hands and easing the cold with hot tea or coffee, preferrably, of course, with cinnamon, as well as some (hopefully) nice new shots.
